Eating disorders are complex physical and psychological illnesses, that take shape differently in each affected individual. The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) estimates “10 million men in America will have an eating disorder at some point in their lives.”

Dr. Riley Nickols is interviewed by KCUR, the NPR affiliate in Kansas City, about the stigma and stereotypes around men and eating disorders which can hinder males seeking and receiving treatment. Sports and body perception are also factors that could be associated with eating disorders in men.
