2022 Fall MBE Virtual Groups for Athletes

Our sport psychologists, mental health providers, and sport dietitians offer groups for athletes to improve mental health, address sport concerns, optimize performance, facilitate healing and restore freedom.

Enhancing Performance Through Mental Flexibility

Description: This group will focus on mental performance skills that are backed by science. Our minds are just like a muscle – they need to be stretched and strengthened to achieve high levels of performance. We will focus on foundational skills to increase psychological flexibility and propensity for flow (being “in the zone”). Each session will introduce new skill(s) and provide practice to implement outside of session.

Group attendees will be reminded that all foods can fit in a satiating and sustainable diet!

MBErecovery in Sport Group

Description: For many athletes, sport can be protective of health and recovery while for others, it can throw them back into a toxic culture centered around body-related pressures, nutrition focused conversations and training designed to push the body to extremes. These challenges can be difficult and overwhelming to navigate. The MBErecovery in Sport Group is intended to allow a space for athletes to be honest and supportive of one another to fully engage with, and leverage, the opportunities in both sport and life. This group is intended to be in addition to, rather than in replacement of, working with a multidisciplinary outpatient treatment team.

Optimizing Performance through Self-Care

Description: The way we train our bodies is a big part, but not the whole picture for sport performance. How we breathe, respond to hunger cues, and talk about our bodies can also have a significant impact on performance. This group will help to combat some of the myths about what an athlete’s body needs to look like and how to care for our body. We will explore some tools to help work with the body, rather than against it. Over eight weeks, we will cover the following themes to help you better express your potential on and off the field:

-Breathwork for mind/body regulation
-Intuitive eating
-Body image in sport

Dates and Times: Mondays 11am-12pm CST (starting 9/12)

Duration: 8 weeks

Available for individuals in: Florida

Price: $60/group

Group Facilitators: Jacquie Rangel, MSEd & Kaitlyn Pscodna, RDN, LD
